DL Consulting, the company behind Veridian digital collection management software and services has just achieved Zero Carbon Business Operations certification for the 2019 calendar year.
This certification confirms that we’ve measured and offset 100% of the CO2 emissions from our day to day operations including electricity, waste, freight, and business travel. It also involves a carbon reduction plan that will help reduce our CO2 emissions over the next 12 months.
DL Consulting Managing Director Stefan Boddie says Zero Carbon certification was an important milestone for the company:
“To be a truly sustainable business, we’re aiming for a balance of economic stability, and environmental responsibility. Underpinning this is our commitment to retaining and building on our wonderful base of customers. It feels good to be able to offer them our services, safe in the knowledge that we’re doing no harm to the environment” says Stefan.
We worked with carbon measurement and offsetting social enterprise ekos to calculate and offset our carbon emissions. Our operational footprint for the 2019 calendar year was 14.52tCO2e (excluding radiative forcing). This is the equivalent of 4.05 return flights from Auckland to London via Doha for one passenger sitting in economy class.
Once the emissions were quantified, the next step was to select a native reforestation project and purchase carbon credits to offset 100% of the emissions from our business operations.
Our carbon credits will support the Rarakau Rainforest Conservation Project located in Southland, New Zealand, which will help protect 738ha of Māori owned tall indigenous rainforest.
This is the beginning of our Zero Carbon journey. Measurement and reduction of our CO2 emissions will be an ongoing process for DL Consulting. Throughout 2020 we’ll be using the insights gained to reduce our emissions where we can.
We look forward to working together with our customers to build digital collections that not only function beautifully, but also have a lighter environmental impact.
