Hosted by the Minnesota Historical Society, the free, searchable collection now contains 348 publications comprising 146,316 issues and 1,328,694 pages. Spanning 1851 to 2007, the newspapers document more than 150 years of Swedish immigrant and Swedish American life across the United States and Canada. The launch represents a major expansion of a collection developed through a longstanding collaboration between institutions in Sweden and the United States. It also marks a milestone for Veridian: our first Swedish-language interface. The project began more than a decade ago, with the first website launching in 2016. The latest phase has substantially expanded the collection, bringing together more than 1.3 million digitized pages from hundreds of Swedish American newspaper titles. Swedish-language newspapers played an important role in immigrant communities across North America, documenting cultural, social, political, religious, and everyday life over generations. Making these newspapers searchable online gives researchers, genealogists, students, and members of the public new ways to identify people, places, organizations, events, and connections across a large body of historical material. The updated collection is available through a bilingual English and Swedish interface, helping audiences search, navigate, and engage with the material in the language most appropriate to them. ## Expanding Veridian's multilingual collection experience The new site is Veridian's first Swedish-language interface, adding another language to a growing portfolio of multilingual digital collections. Veridian already supports collections designed for audiences working across multiple languages. The [Swiss National Library](https://www.e-newspaperarchives.ch/) digital newspaper collection, for example, provides its interface in German, French, Italian, and English, while the [National Library of Israel](https://www.nli.org.il/en/newspapers/titles) newspaper collection provides an interface in English, Hebrew, and Arabic. For culturally and linguistically diverse collections, access involves more than making digitized material available online. The way people search, navigate, and interact with a collection also needs to reflect its audiences and context. > Related reading: [Building Inclusive Archives: Veridian Multilingual Digital Collections](https://veridiansoftware.com/knowledge-base/veridian-multilingual-newspaper-archives) Adding Swedish to Veridian's multilingual experience is an important milestone and particularly fitting for a collection centered on language, migration, and cultural identity. ## Congratulations to everyone involved A collection of this scale reflects sustained collaboration across institutions, countries, and many years of work. We congratulate the Minnesota Historical Society, Kungliga biblioteket, the American Swedish Institute, the Swenson Swedish American Research Center, and everyone involved in funding, developing, and expanding this important resource. We are especially pleased to continue working with the Minnesota Historical Society and to support the next chapter of *Swedish American Newspapers* as more than 1.3 million pages of Swedish American history become easier to search, discover, and explore.
